Its the never-ending story, told exclusively in patent drawings! The gist is to take a story (or an arbitrary collection of words, if you like), throw out all the unimportant words, and then compare what’s left against a repository of patent drawings and connect them together via a robotized pen-based printer. How awesome is that? A perpetual storytelling machine! [From Spime]

It’s old news, but this Mortal Kombat short film totally has me hooked. SIGN THIS GUY UP WARNER BROTHERS! [From Kotaku]
I think that calling it a “Retina Display” is just as silly as the next guy, but as far as I’m concerned, Apple can toss around all the marketing jargon they want if this is the result. [From patrickbeja.com]
It would be too easy to open up with a cliche like “the force is strong with this The Old Republic trailer” so instead I’ll allow myself to degenerate into raving fanboy mode and just say HOLY CRAP DID YOU SEE THAT FORCE-PUSH HADOKEN!? If I can do that in-game, SIGN ME THE F*** UP! [From Kelsea and Muffins]
As if Super Mario Bros. Crossover wasn’t awesome enough already, there’s an update coming in a couple of days that’ll make it even better. I won’t lie to you, I’d give my best friend’s firstborn child if this came to consoles, handhelds, or even my iPhone. Of course, that’ll happen when pigs fly, and so it’s BACK TO THE LAB! These gene’s aren’t going to splice themselves! [From Kotaku]
There is no end to the awesome things that can be done with legos. Here: The Citadel from Mass Effect in all of it’s iridescent blocky glory. [From Kotaku]
I would watch this movie. I would also audition for the role of Gordon Freeman. I would even have my legs broken and reset incorrectly so I could grow a couple of inches to give me the sort of height a protagonist really needs to get a leg up on the competition (HAR HAR HAR). Lets face it: in the movies, 5’8” does not a hero make. Most of the time, anyway. [From AgentScarlet via Kotaku]
Hack Your Music: This Script Makes Your Tunes Swing
I am a man who enjoys non-standard covers of famous songs. It doesn’t matter what kind: be it simply the same song by different artists, varied arrangements done in the same style, or adaptations in a new genre altogether, chances are, if it’s a popular song with a clever new twist, I’ll like it. As a result, when I saw that there was a Python code that could “swingify” songs by taking advantage of time stretching, I had to give it a listen! And I have to say, the results are pretty interesting (if not entirely consistent in quality). The one that was linked in the main article (and one of the author’s favorites, apparently) was Sweet Child O’ Mine (by everyone’s least favorite - or at least my least favorite - 80’s band, Guns N’ Roses).

But honestly, my dislike for GNR overpowered my love of covers and I had to shut it down halfway through. Which is why I find it odd that I enjoyed the script’s swingification of Enter Sandman. Normally I dislike Metallica as much as I do Guns N’ Roses, but about halfway through the second verse when the backup harmonies kicked in, I decided I had to link this one too. Admittedly, things get a little strange from the break down on, as the script loses sync with the primary rhythm after the solo. In that vein, it gets awkward around 3:20/3:30. But it picks up again near 4:25 with a great offbeat take on the intro riff’s swing timing.

Of course, not all of them were entirely successful. Don’t Stop Believin’ was a little meh. But for you, Internet, I’ll post it anyway:

If you’re interested in hearing the rest, you can check out The Swinger page, where you can also download the source code. Which I already have. Needless to say, TERRIBLE THINGS ARE ABOUT TO HAPPEN. Bweh heh heh. [From Download Squad]
Hey, remember that Super Mario Bros. crossover game that I posted out not too long ago? Well, A NEW CHALLENGER HAS APPEARED! That’s right, straight out of Ninja Gaiden, Ryu Hayabusa is now storming around the mushroom kingdom, kicking some serious ass with his shuriken. [From Kotaku]
