It would be too easy to open up with a cliche like “the force is strong with this The Old Republic trailer” so instead I’ll allow myself to degenerate into raving fanboy mode and just say HOLY CRAP DID YOU SEE THAT FORCE-PUSH HADOKEN!? If I can do that in-game, SIGN ME THE F*** UP! [From Kelsea and Muffins]
Let me get this straight. Steve Jobs is the good guy who is leading the rebel alliance against the tyrannical oppression of the evil empire… but the iPad is the Death Star? I’M GETTING SOME MIXED SIGNALS HERE! To make matters worse, it’s all wrapped up in so much geek-tasticness that I think the lobe of my brain that handles tech-related awesome-processing is about to go the way of an old 80’s PSA. Wait. Scratch that. I think it’s just exhaustion. Nonetheless, I’m cognizant enough to realize that Han’s dismissive disbelief is just as priceless in this context as it was in the original. [From TUAW]
Disney Star Wars Advertisements
And since you got one dose of Star Wars from Geekologie, it’s only fair you get another.
IS THERE NOTHING LEGOS CAN’T DO!? Yes. My homework. But at least there’s some consolation in the fact that they are a completely viable way of compressing one of the greatest Sci-Fi franchises of all time into a nice, neat 2:12 youtube video. ENJOY! [From Geekologie]
Good things have come in doubles as of late, it seems, because right on the heels of the JibJab Star Wars clips comes this hilarious video of Darth Vader’s studio sessions for TomTom. That’s right, they’re releasing Star Wars voice skins for their GPS systems. Coming up in June is C-3PO, followed by Yoda in July, and Han in August. I SAY THEY RELEASE CHEWY NEXT! Anyone with me? The Star Wars Trilogy in 362 Seconds
Jib Jab has done it again. This time, in honor of the 30th anniversary of the release of The Empire Strikes Back, they’ve released three clips (approximately two minutes each) that compress all three movies into just over 6 minutes of hilarity. First, there’s A New Hope:
Then The Empire Strikes Back:
And finally The Return of the Jedi:
I strongly suggest watching them. I mean, they’re hilarious homages to one of the greatest Sci Fi franchises of all time. What else could you want? Oh wait. I know. You might want to put your own face in the movie. Yeah. That’d be pretty cool too. WHO WANTS TO DO IT WITH ME!? [Originally from JibJab but the faces seen here no doubt belong to the nice folks at Techcrunch who put together these embedded versions]
Here we see a fine specimen of lightsaber choreography. The version shown here hasn’t been rotoscoped (though this one has) but that doesn’t make me enjoy it any less. It just goes to show that you don’t always need flashy lights and sound effects to appreciate the elegance of a civilized saber duel. Or something like that. [Thanks to Mifio for pointing me at this one]
I would give this man 20 dollars if I passed him on the street, and if you wouldn’t do the same then I’m revoking your Rebel-Alliance membership card. [Thanks to Flickr via Geekologie]
