I’ve always been a big fan of the Super Mario Bros. 2 Overworld theme, but putting it together in an arrangement for a classical guitar quartet just puts me over the edge. More importantly, this was my gateway video into the great collection of music by - bear with me now - PoopPoopFart (I know, I know). In any event, his collaboration with SoundsLikeRemmy was particularly enjoyable (despite me not being a big Jason Mraz fan). I’d strongly suggest checking him (them) out!
It’s old news, but this Mortal Kombat short film totally has me hooked. SIGN THIS GUY UP WARNER BROTHERS! [From Kotaku]
It would be too easy to open up with a cliche like “the force is strong with this The Old Republic trailer” so instead I’ll allow myself to degenerate into raving fanboy mode and just say HOLY CRAP DID YOU SEE THAT FORCE-PUSH HADOKEN!? If I can do that in-game, SIGN ME THE F*** UP! [From Kelsea and Muffins]
This is a delightfully amusing, whimsical mashup two classic NES titles. All the way up to the end. At which point… OH GOD MY EYES. [From Josh]
As if Super Mario Bros. Crossover wasn’t awesome enough already, there’s an update coming in a couple of days that’ll make it even better. I won’t lie to you, I’d give my best friend’s firstborn child if this came to consoles, handhelds, or even my iPhone. Of course, that’ll happen when pigs fly, and so it’s BACK TO THE LAB! These gene’s aren’t going to splice themselves! [From Kotaku]
There is no end to the awesome things that can be done with legos. Here: The Citadel from Mass Effect in all of it’s iridescent blocky glory. [From Kotaku]
I am not a Naruto fan. I have never watched a single episode of the show, read a single page from the manga, or played a single one of the video games. I never intend to change any of these things. However, I couldn’t watch this trailer for a game and not be struck with a “wow, this is exactly the right medium for this sort of thing” moment. [From Joystiq]
Hey, remember that Super Mario Bros. crossover game that I posted out not too long ago? Well, A NEW CHALLENGER HAS APPEARED! That’s right, straight out of Ninja Gaiden, Ryu Hayabusa is now storming around the mushroom kingdom, kicking some serious ass with his shuriken. [From Kotaku]
The Mythbusters meet Mario in this GameTrailers Pop Fiction special that shows unequivocally (unless they edited it, of course) that Mario can indeed vault clear over that menacing flagpole at the end of each stage in Super Mario Bros. I have to admit, I too fell victim to this rumor in the late 80’s/early 90’s when I was playing it on my NES, but I was never able to achieve success. Now I guess I’m going to have to pull it out of storage, blow a metric lung-load of air into that old cart, and give it the old college try again (now that I’m in college, after all). [From Kotaku]
I love BustedTees. Also: Bomberman. (You see what they did there?) [From BustedTees via Kotaku]
